Dudes,
It will be really great if any one can answer couple of questions for me.
1) I know that INTEGRA is doing the verification process. Is there a particular form for that? If YES, from where do we get that?
2) For Age proof, PASSPORT or SSLC Book should be enough.. Do we really need to show another document like Driving Licence or something else?
Thanks in advance.
Special Thanks for DEV for creating such a good n nice blog…. Cheers to u!!!!

Hi,

Here are the answers.
1) I know that INTEGRA is doing the verification process. Is there a particular form for that? If YES, from where do we get that?
When i applied for HSMP , i had submitted the integra verification form and i found it somewhere on internet.I tried the same for u as well but couldn’t get it.
The best thing to do is call up VFS and ask them.
2) For Age proof, PASSPORT or SSLC Book should be enough.. Do we really need to show another document like Driving Licence or something else?
Passport or SSLC is enough but again check with VFS.

I’m working with a consultant on getting HSW Tier-1 VISA, They require me to file 3years of IT returns.
My Questions:
Do I really need to show the IT returns? Do I get any problem on showing only one year IT returns(is there any chances of rejection?)
Do I get back the 600 £ Application Fee, If my application gets rejected?
Any suggestion are highly appreciated.
The information you provided is 100% accurate.
Good Job!

3. Can i submit the application alone?, without help of third party?
4. If my case is rejected then when can i again apply?

1. If i fulfill all the terms and conditions then how much time it takes to get your VISA stamped.
They takes 20 working days.
2. What are the reasons for rejection of the HSMP even fulfilling the all criteria for it.
No chance at all if you meet all the requirements and all docs are genuine.
3. Can i submit the application alone?, without help of third party?
You can submit your application on your own and i would recommend that only.Dont go for any consultant as all are money makers not helpers.
4. If my case is rejected then when can i again apply?
There is no chance of getting rejection if you meet requirement but in case it happens then you can appeal once free and even if appeal get rejected then you can apply on very second day.
5. what is the process for getting the visa? suppose I submitted the document then when they will call me / After submitting the application can i go to other country for 2 or three months/ . If they approve my application then whether they call for interview ?
British high commission does not call applicant for an interview but in case they find something unclear in your application then they might call you for interview.
You can not go out of country after submitting your application as you must have to send your passport to british high commision for HSW visa and without having passport how will go out of country.
I hope this helps.

Hi Sid,
You can withdraw the fund after submitting the application because british high comission does contact bank for fund checking and your bank wont reveal the account information with anybody.
But i would strongly recommend not to withdraw it untill n unless you have do or die condition.
You need to take your call but as per me they dont check rest is in their hand.

sdevang said
Hi,
If your visa is approved under Tier1 then you will get visa for 3 years and extention would be of 2 years. You may need to prove yourself before you can apply for extention like you need to have earning of 28000 £ before you can apply for extention. This is just a recommedation not mandatory.
You need to be in UK for atleast 5 years before you get indefinate stay. After 7 years you can appply for citizenship.

The INR Vs GBP values change all the way from 76 rupees to 87 rupees in 3 months. I am holding a maintenance fund for my wife and kid of 510000 rupees. It is 6000 GBP. Which particular date will they calculate the value based on if it is high or low than 6000 GBP.

2. My PG and UG both in English, will I get any points for English Language?
If I clear IELTS will I get any points? What is the IELTS score expected to get all 10 points for English Language?
3. I worked in UK before for 7 months, will I get any points for my UK experience.
I traveled twice to UK on work permit.
4. I also applied for HSMP on 2006 and it was approved. that time they approved only for 1 year, because of my marriage I could not travel to UK, will that be a problem?
Thanks again,

Hi,
Rahul,
You shold have mentioned the convertion rate in your covering letter ,so it will help VISA officer to determine what was the rate at the time of application.
You should have taken some deviation in mind while maintaining the fund in your account. You should not be maintaining exact 6000 £ because no one knows what will happen in next 3 months.
But as per me they consider 80 INR as average and would be counted accordingly.

Hello BCE,
1.I did my masters (MCA) from Manipal university Karnataka, Bachelor(BCA)from Madurai Kamaraj University TamilNadu…Can you please tell me how many points I will get for my educational qualification.
You will get 35 points only because of BCA , they wont consider MCA for master degree. They only consider MBA or PHD for 50 points.
2. My PG and UG both in English, will I get any points for English Language?
You need to have degree certificate mentioning that it was taught in English language or you can get letter from university stating that your tenure was in english then you will get point else your application will be rejected immediately.
If I clear IELTS will I get any points? What is the IELTS score expected to get all 10 points for English Language?
You dont need to give IELTS as your degree was in english medium.
3. I worked in UK before for 7 months, will I get any points for my UK experience.
I traveled twice to UK on work permit.
I think , you will get 5 points for being into the UK in past.
4. I also applied for HSMP on 2006 and it was approved. that time they approved only for 1 year, because of my marriage I could not travel to UK, will that be a problem?
Its perfectly fine that you didnt travel.its yous wish no one force you.

Assessment of Maintenance Funds is given in the below link and assessment of Previous Earnings is also done in the similar way
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/workingintheuk/tier1/general/eligibility/pointsassessment/maintenance/#header4
The GBP to INR exchange rate on OANDA is been shown as 83.XX
and on xe.com, finance.yahoo.com, google.com etc is shown as 79.XX.
Here is my question
If I had maintained funds for conversion rate of 80 INR(2,24,000 INR). If my bank is ready to give a letter stating I had maintained funds 2800 GBP and above as per their exchange rate in past 90 days in this case which conversion rate will be considered?

Hi Ravi,
Bitish high commision would consider the rate as on the bank statement date according to OANDA website.Your bank’s letter would not be considered because each bank gives different rates.

Thank you so mych dev, few more questions
1.
I am applying for Tier 1 (General) visa from Singapore.
Can I add my CPF Contribution (Employee & Employer) to my previous earnings?
Let say my..
Salary credited to account is : 7775
Employer CPF contribution is : 180
Employee CPF contribution is : 225
CPF: Central Provident Fund
Can I add 8180 to my previous earnings?
2.
This is regarding evidence for my previous earnings,
I recently joined new company in June, I only have ePayslip from my previous employer, and the epayslip doesn’t have the company stamp.
Since I left the company I don’t think I will be able to get the stamp and signature on the epayslip.
Will this be a issue in getting my Tier 1 visa.
But I have Bank statement for all 12 months stating my salary credit(Including my previous company).
3.
I have worked in the UK before, I do not have the payslip for my UK experience, but I have the offer letter and the visa stamping? Is this enoung to get points for UK experience?
Thanks
bce
sdevang said
Hi BCE,
Here are the answers.
1.If your CPF is reflecting in your payslip then you can show it in your previous earning.
2.You must have duly stamped / signed payslip by company. You can contact the HR of last company to do the stamping. You may tell them you need it for VISA ,so they have to stamp it else you may come under the gun.
3.No.For claiming UK experience point , you need to be here at least for 1 year or more.

Is it compulsory to submit IT return form for previous earning proof?
what if i submit only 12 months bank statement along with 12 months pay slip & employer letter ???

sdevang said
Hi Sagar,
You need to have atleast one IT return if you are working from more than 1 year.
IT return gives you the credit that person is filing the income tax with government.
If you are earning from more than a year and don’t have IT return then it may lead to rejection.
You can still file an application and ultimate decision is in hand of British High Commission.

British comission does not bother about source of the money but IT dept. may have concern.
You need to submit 12 months payslip plus statement. You can deposit the fund in different account. That wont be a problem.

British high comission wont bother about the source.

I would still request you to contact VFS on 08040084008 for more clarification but VFS is also not correct all the time.

Hi Dev
I gonna apply for Tier 1 (general) visa, well for for earnings we need to provide 2 kind of evidences
1) Personal bank statements for each month
2) Payslips for each month
The net account claimed for each month must tally with amount credited by the employer in the bank for each month.
Well for 11 months i have all the payslips(formal payslips) & bank statements, in 12th month i m going on vacations & usually in our company whenever anybody go on vacations the company pays the vacations salary & the salary of the current as Cash through the payment voucher. This payment voucher is usually on unleaded paper and mostly they don’t stamp and sign this payment voucher. So i am in little problem due to the situation as my 11 months not fulfilling the required points for earning.
Well one of my friend suggested me to print the 12th month payment voucher on the company’s headed paper & deposit the cash amount which i will get as payment voucher in bank by myself.
Also i take a letter from the company on the headed paper which shows my total earnings from month 1 to month 12.
So guru what u think that above suggestion will work for me or not? as i m providing the formal payslips for 11 months & for 12th month i m providing the payment voucher on company’s headed paper
plus the employer letter showing the total salary 12 months. Also on the bank statement of 12th month same will be showed but it will be deposited by myself.
Dev kindly comment on the above suggestion or suggest some other alternative.

Malik

Hello Malik,
See malik no one knows whether British high commission would accept it or not to but i would not suggest to do so.
I would request you to show previous 12 months income before the 11th Month’s income.
Why would you like to take risk if you are meeting all requirements.
British High Commission may accept it or may not but no one can give surety for this not even VFS.
Anyone can get fake headed letter and show the income and british high commision knows that its quite easy to do ,so please don,t take risk.
In HSMP they were little less strict but in Tier1 they are very strict.

Dev
Malik said
Well if i show previous 12 months income before the 11th Month’s income this will not make the required amount to score the 40 points for earnings……well i am trying that company will transfer my vacation salary & 12th month salary in my account.

Well Dav i found following info on the official guidance notes (pdf doc)
Page 20 section 123 sub-section 3
(Where an employer letter includes only total gross and net earnings figures for the whole earnings period claimed, we will consider this document. However, only where the dates of the earning period and the total gross/net earnings stated in the letter exactly correspond with the information included in the other documentary evidence of these earnings provided, will we be able to award points.)
Kindly look at it and comment on this.

Hi Dev,
Now the 1GBP is 74 rupees very low by which the earning power points will increase. For 4900 I only need to earn 367000 rupees. and I will earn 25 points and I have 50 points from age and education. Can I apply now with this points.

Hi
I have a doubt on the Indian salary part.
I have been given an hike during the month of September and my salary has increased to now Rs.6,00,000/-. My earlier take home CTC was Rs.5,00,000/-. If I now apply for HSW Tier-I how can I prove this because they are asking for pay slip and bank statement of 12 months towards my salary credit. Now I am falling short of 5 points and by getting this increase I will be able to apply for HSW Tier-I. The current increase will get reflected only from November onwards both in payslip as well as bank statement.
Please clarify so that I can apply.
Regards
Srinivasan

Hi Rahul,
You can apply , British High Commission would count the conversion rate as per the OANDA site for the date of bank statement.

Hello Srinivasan,
You need to count Net take home not the CTC for earning points.
You need to sum up your last 12 months income as mentioned in payslip and need to see whether you are eligible or not.
I hope this help.

Hi Dav can comment on following
Well all my salaries of 11 months are credited in my bank account by the company but for 12th month i received the salary as the Cash, which i deposited in the same bank account and this amount will show up on the 12th month bank statement. So that i have the official bank statements of all 12 months.
For the the 2nd proof of earning i am providing a letter from the employer which shows my net earning of 12 the months (from jan 2008 to Dec 2008), since in 11 months bank statements show the credited amount as salary transfer & the 12th month bank statement’s amount as Cash deposit, so is it a problem? Moreover if the credited amounts on all 12 months bank statements are summed they give the same total amount which mention on the employer letter. I am from Saudi Arabia & there is no tax system here, so the gross salary is the net salary.

As you said you can get the letter from the company about 12th month’s salary then there wont be any kind of issue.
Plus as you said both amount matches then nothing can be better than that.
Don’t worry.Go for it and i am sure you will get it.

Can you please tell me the cost of living in London(East Croydon).
I am married, no kids. How much will it cost monthly for the below?
House(double bedroom)
Elect & Water
Gas
Telephone
Other house expences(food, basic laundry and toiletry items for 2 people)
Transport
Also what is the tax in central london, If I get 60k annum how much I will get after tax?
Thanks in advance,
bce
sdevang said
Hi BCE,
I hope you get 60K or more than that but i dont think anybody gets it without having UK experience.
You should consider 35-40 K as minimum salary and count your expenses as per that only.
If you earn 60 K then you would get £3,447.55 take home.
You can use following URL to see how much you would take home after deducting NI n TAX.
http://listentotaxman.com/
The monthly expense would be around £ 1200 for couple. Its for 1 BHK house.
This £1200 includes Rent , Council Tax , Food , Gas n Electricity.
Again it depends upon life style and area where you live.
Transport is awesome here and on other part its damn costly.
You would end up paying around £ 250 per month if you are travelling to Central London from Greator london.
Medical is free once you register with NHS.
If you go for car then expense would be more higher.
All in all if you get £ 2500 in hand then you can live very comfortabley.

Hi Dev,
I’m submitting the HSW-Tier 1 visa application in a week. The below are the following documents I’m providing.
AGE- Passport
QUALIFICATION- Engineering Original Degree
PREVIOUS EARNINGS – Last 12 pay slips duly signed by employer + original bank statement for past 12 months + Income tax returns for 2007-08
ENGLISH LANGUAGE – I’m not submitting anything as my degree has been recognized as been taught in English on the Points Calculator.
MAINTENANCE FUNDS – Will be submitting an original statement from the bank covering the transactions for past 3 months as mentioned in the below link.
Maintenance Funds Evidence
It says in case of an online bank statements we also need a supporting letter from the bank confirming the authenticity of the statements.
I guess it means only the original bank statement should be sufficient to show the maintenance funds. What do you say?
One more question.
For Previous Earnings we mention the exchange rate in the points calculator.
Similarly for the maintenance funds also do we also need to mention the conversion rate any where or attach a print out taken from OANDA site showing the conversion for the date the statement taken?
Please advise.
Thanks
Ravi
sdevang said
Hi Ravi,
Original bank statement will work.
British High commission takes GBP rates as per the OANDA site.
You can go to http://www.oanda.com/ and see the conversion rate respective to your application date plus the bank statement date. That would be counted.
I hope this help.
I wish you all the best for your Visa.

Hi Nitin,
You need to have last 12 months bank statement to confirm that your salary was getting credited in that bank account.
Please do not apply without 12 months bank statement else you chances of getting rejecting is high.
You also need to check whether your degree is recwognised by NARIC or not.
You can check it using following PBS.
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/pointscalculator
You need to take prior appointment before going to make an application.
You can go directly any day but in that case you may need to wait a long.
You can use following URL to know more about scheduling appointment.

I have applied Tier-1 Visa on 11/11/2008. but i have little confusion on my FM, during th 3 months period, one day(29/09/2008) the fm was less than 2800 pounds. This will make any problem. Plesae give your suggestions.

Hi Babu,
If you go through the guidance note or application form than it says that that the fund must not fall below £ 2800 at any time during last 3 months. Please note that it says it must not fall. They are not saying it should not ,so from the sentence it seems that they are pretty strict on this front and i am sorry to say but it may lead to VISA rejection.
One more thing how do you know that the fund was fall down below £ 2800.You need to check the rate on OANDA site and need to know what was the conversion rate at the end of 3 months period.

I strongly recommend.
Don’t Go.Don’t Go.Don’t Go.Don’t Go.
I will help you in processing your application entirely n that to free of cost. You may buy a pizza to me once you get your visa.
Second thing is that don’t maintain exact £ 2800 because we never know when the price of £ changes. It was 85 1 month back and its 72 now ,so its unpredictable.
As you have 2.7 lacs , you don’t need to worry about anything.
Maintain 2.7 for 3 months and then you can take bank statement in which you have fund maintained.

1. education — MSC – is the pass certificate of the same fine
Yon need to have degree certificate of MSC.
2. medium of instruction – it was always english for me so is it ok if i take it out from my school itself or does it have to be from MSC
If your college or university is there in UK NARIC database then you dont need to produce any document for instruction of medium.
If you college is not there in NARIC then you need to get certificate from your college or university stating medium of instruction was english.
3. What are the documents for my wife
Marriage certificate.
Passport ( must valid for atleast 6 month from date of application )
Photographs
Invitation letter
Sponsership letter
Accomodation proof in UK
£ 1400 Fund for atleast 3 months
Call VFS on 080 4008 4008 for more info.

You must 12 months payslip. The offer letter would not work.
If your new company gives 15r days salary and gives salary slip then it should be fine.

Hi Dev,
I have a few queries. My passport has Prasad Kalyanasundaram as the name. My degree certificates and transcripts has Prasad K Sundar as my name. Looks like this will be a problem. I have an academic reference who has given me a letter, stating that my degree is issued under the abbreviated name of Prasad K Sundar, and that he knows me and that my actual name is Prasad Kalyanasundaram. Would this suffice?
Do the HSMP folks accept affidavits? I am planning to get both these letters.
I have Rs.200000/- in India(post office MIS) and the least balance in my UK account in the last 3 months is 1300 GBP.
Do they accept post office savings account? I have a similar issue where my post office account is in my abbreviated name (Prasad K Sundar). Will an affidavit
Please, can you advise?
Many Thanks,

Hi Prasad,
British high commission accepts affidavits in such cases.I would request you to call VFS on 080 4008 4008 and get it confirmed.
MIS wont be counted. You must have to have £ 2800 maintained in your account for last 3 months to be able to make successful application.
Please make sure that Fund must not fall beyoud £ 2800 at any given point in last 3 months else VISA wont be granted.
Regards,
Dev

British high commission does not bother about the source of Fund ,so don’t worry.

Hi Dev,
Appreciate your good blog so far…I am a prospective Tier-1 applicant from Chennai, have some queries to clarify please -
1)Once I apply & get my Tier-1, can I start applying for IT jobs online from within India?
2)or Do I need to come to UK and then search for jobs?
3)Will I get response from employers once I apply for jobs online (quoting my Tier-1 Visa)?…What do they prefer – one should come down straight for a interview in UK (or) wud they first prefer Telephonic iview for a Indian applicant?
My main concern is to get jobs after getting Tier-1 visa!
Thanks,
Vijay

Hello Vijay,
Here are the answers of your questions.
1)Once I apply & get my Tier-1, can I start applying for IT jobs online from within India?
You can start applying but you will not get even any single call or job being in India.I had to face the same thing being india ,so its my personal experience.
2)or Do I need to come to UK and then search for jobs?
You need to be in UK to get the job as consultant would only give you a call if you are in india.
The reason behind this is that if they call though you are in india then how would they schedule interview for you and lets say they schedule telephonic round and after all process you don’t come to UK then they have to start entire process from scratch and recruitment is quite big process here.
It takes minimum 4 to 6 week before they offer you a job.
3)Will I get response from employers once I apply for jobs online (quoting my Tier-1 Visa)?…What do they prefer – one should come down straight for a interview in UK (or) wud they first prefer Telephonic iview for a Indian applicant?
See it depends on your luck , you may get you may not but in 99 % case you will not.
Come to UK and start hunting.
One special advice which i can give it to you if you really wanna try from india.
Go to skype.com and purchase credit using your credit card and with that credit you can buy UK’s local landline number and if someone calls you on that number then that call get routed to your computer provided that you are logged in your skype account.
You can put that number in your resume so consultant may feel that you are in UK.
Its just a matter of around £ 10 to £ 15 ,so i think its worth give a try.
I was not aware of this before i came to UK else i would have tried.
February is best time to come to UK as Summer starts from March hence you get around 6 months to get settled down before fucking winter starts.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Dev

Dev,
Many Thanks for your response. The MIS savings, will mature in February, in my case. So, do you think they will consider that? Also, I have around 1400£ in the UK (least in the last 3 months). I have boosted it to 2800£ and intend keeping it that way, but then I will be able to apply only in Feb. But, I was looking at applying earlier, if possible.
Regards,
Prasad
sdevang said
Hi Prasad,
You need to have in fund form of liquid to get it considered.
So you can apply only in Feb.Please do not hurry up as it may lead to rejection.
End of Feb is best time to come to UK as summer will start from March onward ,so u get around 6 months to get settled down before fucking winter starts.

Hi Vijay,
You can appeal against the decision once free of cost.
For appealing you need to contact Solicitor or lawyer in indian terms. They will charge you as well.
I don’t know the process of appealing as i got visa in first shot only. I am sure you will also get it.
Don’t panic and go for it. I will make sure that your application is successful.
P.S – I only provide help to those who really deserves the HSMP / HSW status.

And creation of new IT jobs in UK as well in 2009?

Hi Vijay,
Market is dry compared as it was before 6-8 months.
But person who is really technically good gets the job in kind of market.
Anyone has to wait for at-least 1-2 months before he/she gets the offer. Recruitment is damn slow process here.
I am in IT ,so i have only idea about IT. It may happen that you may need to start with less salary but once you get UK exp. then you will rule over consultants.
Oracle DBAs are in great demand in any circumstances and luckily i am an Oracle DBA.

Hi Dev,
i will start preparing the docs as per ur list from cover letter..once i have collected the docs..will give a final reply to u for the collected docs….
my final doubt…the fund maintenace is 2.5L…i will maintain it…as around 2Lak has been credited to my account a single day…VFS may ask for the source of money…and i mean the proof…i have seen many forums asking for the same…
I transfered that money from my another savings account..even that money was credited on the same day…after which i transfered to my savings account..in which the maintenance will be shown…
so other than that i think i have all the genuine docs..can u suggest someting..
can i call my local VFS and explain them about this or ??
Regards,
Ashok
sdevang said
Hi Ashok,
No one will ask for the source of fund. VFS does not bother about the source of the fund as they don’t see the documents at all.
VFS is there to help the british high commission making sure that all the required docs are submitted along with application form.
I would not suggest to call VFS as i am sure you will get diplomatic n standard template based answer from them. The answer could be ,
” We can not say anything on this sir and ultimate decision is with High Commission ”
N as far as you are gonna maintain the fund for three consecutive months then British High Commission should also not have any problem.
Managing 3 lakhs is not a big deal for a person who is applying for HSW visa because they know that you must be earning good to become eligible for HSW visa.
For example ,
I am earning 6 lacs per annum and i have been getting this salary from around 2 years then they can also understand that i can quite easily manage for 3 lacs INR.
They know that no body keeps such big amount in bank account. Ppl generally invest somewhere and whenever they require they take it back from the investment ,so they should not bother about the source of income.
I hope this help.

Dev

Hello Dev,
I really appriciate your guidance to the applicants and Thanks for your creative/good blog.
Here is my questions reg. HSMP Tier1
1. I heard that we have to show our Monthly Gross earnings for HSMP Visa, While calculating the points, do we need to calculate Gross earnings or Net Pay? Since the Net pay only will be crediting to our Bank account?
2. As part of my company temporary assignment, i went to USA for the past 9 months; How do I show my 12 months earnings statement, Is it like 9 months US pay and 3 months India pay?
3. Am planning to apply HSMP Visa by end of Febraury 2008, since I started to maintain 2800pounds funds in my US account from the last week onwards. Right now am in India, As per friends guidance I will have to produce the Bank Statement with Bank letter head and Bank seal till Feb end?
As I have the Bank statement till November end with the Bank notarization, unlikely its very difficult to get the bank statement for Dec, Jan and Feb? Pls suggest me here.
4. Also as part of my US payslip, its an electronic earning statement. I believe, my employer don’t give the company seal. Normally we used to get it from Company letter head with HR signature. As such, I have got the notarization stamp for all my US payslips. Is that enough? Pls confirm the same.
Thanks again!!!

Hello Vijay,
I am really sorry for delay in response but i was damn busy last weekend.
Here are the answers.
1) I have the necessary funds maintained on a joint savings account with my Dad in a diff city other than Chennai, hope this wud suffice?
I am not sure whether this will work or not. Double check with VFS. The reason could be that you would be having two account holder’s name on bank statement then it could create a problem.
2)Also I have a Polytechnic Diploma in Computer Technology (2 yrs after 10+2) and a fulltime BE Degree in IT (3 yrs since lateral entry) – so a total of 2 qualifications an hw much points I can claim?
It would be considered as single degree only and you can claim on points for graduate level. I think you earn 35 points for that.
3)I have left my 2nd comp HCL an joind Cognizant 2 months ago, an have a full & final settlement amount paid seperate (with a payslip) so can I deem that as my last month’s salary from HCL and show for application?
Also I have been paid normal monthly salary for the last month of employment as well.
As you do not have any break for any month during last 12 months then you don’t need to worry about anything.

Hi Prabhu,
Here are the answers.
1. I heard that we have to show our Monthly Gross earnings for HSMP Visa, While calculating the points, do we need to calculate Gross earnings or Net Pay? Since the Net pay only will be crediting to our Bank account?
While calculating point for Tier1 you need to take net take home income into consideration. You can show only those things which are getting reflected in salary slip.
2. As part of my company temporary assignment, i went to USA for the past 9 months; How do I show my 12 months earnings statement, Is it like 9 months US pay and 3 months India pay?
Yes. You can show like that with proper proofs like salary slip etc.
You must have bank statement for the account in which you have maintained the fund. They would like to check whether fund was maintained continuously or not for last 3 months.
You can speak to bank manager and make him aware that you want the statement for HSW visa and they have to give. If they say no then you can plan your action accordingly.
4. Also as part of my US payslip, its an electronic earning statement. I believe, my employer don’t give the company seal. Normally we used to get it from Company letter head with HR signature. As such, I have got the notarization stamp for all my US payslips. Is that enough? Pls confirm the same.
All pay slips must be duly signed n stamped by company authority so notary has nothing to do with it.
Ask HR to stamp it and sign it. I was also getting electronic copy but my HR had to signed it.
I told them i am applying for big loan from so n so bank and the bank want all payslips signed n stamped ,so they agree.
I hope this helps.

Hi Viral,
Here are the comments / answers by me.
Depending on the market conditions, we are hearing romours that HSW will be freezed. Any comments?
Don’t listen to any fucking rumors. You can alway mail VFS or British High commission regarding this.
I have also heard the same thing but some what different that they are planning to freeze HSW for IT guys but no one knows when n whether its true or not.
Freezing IT guys seems logical as well because NHS ( Natiion Health System ) is in biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig need to Nurses n Medical professionals hence they would like to encourage these professional more than the IT guys.
I currently have 2200 GBP in my prepaid (FOREX) acct and ard 2 Lac in my India savings acct. Can I show 2 accts in proof of FM?
No. You can not as per me. You must have bank statement for the account in which you have maintained the fund. They would like to check whether fund was maintained continuously or not for last 3 months.
I would request you to call VFS on 080 4008 4008 n see what they say.

Many thanks Dev for the useful replies. Reg my above qn 1, I just happened to see the below info on JOINT bank accounts.
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf21pbsgeneralmigrant
Maintenance (Funds)- Documentary evidence for Maintenance (Funds)
Evidence must be in the form of cash funds. Other accounts or financial instruments such as shares, bonds, pension funds, etc., regardless of notice period are not acceptable. If you wish to rely on a JOINT account as evidence of available funds, you must be named on the account along with one or more other named individual.
So do I still need to confirm with VHS please?

However, my worry is, because I work for such a large software company, the HR may not be cooperative, as they usually aren’t and may cite some policy not to divulge information. Infact, they may not have access to my salary, if the phone calls land at the wrong person’s desk, when they call the board. What do I do? Please, can you advise?

Hi Julia,
Here are the answers.
1. Can I submit printed bank e-statements as a proof of funds (we are living in a very electronic age)?
You must submit the original bank statement tough being in electronic age because in electronic age frauds happens electronically only.
2. To provide evidence of my earnings can I submit:
- Original Offer letter from my last employer
- My bank e-statements with company deposits
For earning you need to submit last 12 months paysilp with original bank statement.
You also need to submit last years Income tax proof.
3. Will the official University transcript suffice to prove my English fluency (US University) and Education level? Or will I need to provide any additional letters from the University?
If your degree is found in UK NARIC database then you do not need to produce any doc but if it is not there then you need a letter from university.
UK NARIC database link is given in point calculator.

Thanks for your reply.one more ( this may be final question) thing I want to clarify .i.e. in your web site it mentioned that to claim 40 points for earning one must should have salary at least 5.15 laks.but today I calculated by considering the exchange rate from ONDA if we have Rs 5.0 laks salary also I think person is, eligible.Pl just see the following calculation
1 GBU= Rs 74.6030 (As on 09/12/08 from ONDA) then
Converting INR to GBU =500000/74.6030 ie =6702.143 if we multiply th’o conversion factor ie =6702.143*5.3=35521.36 (£35,000 – £39,999).
Am I right? Waiting for your comments.

Yes. You are correct but i would recommend to count 80 as average because you need to show your income for last one year and everyone knows that rate fluctuates ofter ,so to be on safe side go for 1 GBP = 80 INR.
If you are claiming 90 points and as per home office its 80 points then it wont create any problem but let say you say 75 points and as per them its 70 points then it makes big difference. Why to take risk….
I hope it helps.

Dev

Hi,
I am planning to apply for HSMP tier 1 visa for UK.
I think i easily have more then 75 points.
I have the following queries, please guide:
1. How much time does it takes for the VIsa to get stamped ?
2. Once i am there, how good is the Job market for a 4 year experinced IT person.
3. Is there any particular IT hub in europe?
4. Say if i get a job and work and finally after 6-7 years apply for permanent residency, then would i be able to sponsor the immigration for my parents?

Hi Hoshang,
Here are the answers.
1. How much time does it takes for the VIsa to get stamped ?
It takes around 20 working days.
2. Once i am there, how good is the Job market for a 4 year experinced IT person.
IT market is not as good as it was but deserving person gets the job in any case.
3. Is there any particular IT hub in europe?
London is IT hub for entire UK / EU.
4. Say if i get a job and work and finally after 6-7 years apply for permanent residency, then would i be able to sponsor the immigration for my parents?
You get PR after 5 years and its called indefinite stay in UK but you can not sponsor your parents in any case.

Dev

Hi Raj,

As you said if we consider 1GB=80 INR,but I think in the UK website it is given as’ You should use the closing spot exchange rate on the OANDA website on the last day of the period for which you have claimed earnings in that currency’,
what I feel they will not consider whole year variation of pounds w.r.t Rupees, they will take a/c of earnings by considering the exchange rate on the day of the application submitted. Am I right?pl let me know.

Need some help.
For the 2800 GBP that needs to be maintained in the account for 3 months, the exchange rate on which date should be used to convert the currency? I understand that it should be calculated from the oanda site, but I would like to verify the date on which the exchange rate should be taken. Is it the date that the bank gives the letter? or is it the date that the application is submitted or any other date? I’m worried as I might fall short of the amount if it’s calculated based on an exchange rate on a date when it was high. Please advice.

Hi Dev,
You have a nice hub of information here. First of all thanks for all this effort.
I have some questions and hope you can help me out :-
1) Regarding Education in English and Proficiency of the language :-
One of your comments “You need to have degree certificate mentioning that it was taught in English language or you can get letter from university stating that your tenure was in english then you will get point else your application will be rejected immediately.
If I clear IELTS will I get any points? What is the IELTS score expected to get all 10 points for English Language?
You dont need to give IELTS as your degree was in english medium.
“Will the official University transcript suffice to prove my English fluency (US University) and Education level? Or will I need to provide any additional letters from the University?
If your degree is found in UK NARIC database then you do not need to produce any doc but if it is not there then you need a letter from university.
UK NARIC database link is given in point calculator.”
From these comments I concluded that if my University is available in the database at http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/pointscalculator I am good. As in I don’t have to submit a proof that the medium of my education is English and neither do I have to submit a IELTS score. So I “do” find my University in this list but on the “English Language” Page of the points calculator I am given the option “I have a qualification that was taught in English”. If my University was in the list won’t it automatically mean that I am proficient in English?
2) Earning Statments :-
I am in the US now and am planning to move back to India by Feb. By April/May I plan to apply for the Tier 1 permit. Naturally a good portion of my income is from US but when I move out of here I intend to close my bank accounts. Now would this affect verification of my account because the salary details in the statement are correct then only problem(if any) is that I closed my account. I would imagine this won’t be a problem but just wanted to know you opinion.
Thanks again for your time,
Vineeth.

sdevang said
HI Sridhar,
I was not in mood of giving the reply today but as you are applying on coming monday ,so i could not keep myself away from helping you.
Integra verification is not done any more ,so form is not required. Covering letter’s link would be updated soon , may be tomorrow.
You can book hotel at any time. Once you book the hotel , you will get email confirmation which you can attach with your application.
Once VISA is granted , you can cancel the hotel booking as well. Go for Travel lodge as they are cheap compared to others and they have good policies in place but double check before booking.
It seems you are applying in hurry and if that is the case please do not do it in hurry. Please make sure everything is ready and perfect before you go for application.
You can cancel the appointment and rebook it. There is nothing wrong in it.

Dev

VFS guys will surely ask for the accomodation proof. I have applied it on 26 nov and they have asked me the same. There are many hotels where you can apply for accomodation by paying 2-3 pounds using a credit card. you will get the booking confirmation on your email. Take a print of the email and submit that along with the application.

Hi Arnav,
Here comes the answers.
- I understood that HSMP can be apply round the year (unlike H1 for US).
You can apply at any time.
- What is typical end-to-end processing time for HSMP?
The entire process takes around 4 months including 3 months funds maintenance.
- Is 600 £ is per application or per person, what would be fees if me and one dependant applying at the same time?
600 £ is for main applicant and its around 18000 INR for each dependent.I am not sure as i applied in HSMP and now its Tier1. Call VFS on 080 4008 4008 and double check.
- Once HSMP granted, do I need to compulsory visit UK within some time limit to retain HSMP?
Once you have visa , its your wish that you want visit UK or not but if you don’t come to UK in first 2 and half year and then you come then your visa will not be extended.
- I am Indian citizen working in US. I am planning to apply HSMP from US, any specific advice/suggestion while applying from US?
No.Same as if you are applying from India.
- If HSMP granted, and for some reason I cant use it, does it have negative impact in future?
Only one negative impact that you will be earning in $ not in £.
- If approved, will it be for minimum 3 Yrs, or can be less than that?
Tier 1 is for 3 years initially then 2 years extensions. After 5 years indefinite stay to UK and after 8 years Citizenship.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
You are doing a great job Dev, GOD bless you. I have few (more than few) queries, if you don’t mind…
1 – I want to claim 20 points for Age which is possible only if you are below 28 (according to http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk web site) but there are other few sites where the Age limit shows 27, which sounds confusing. Do you know what the correct information is?
2 – I have Bachelors Degree in Arts from University of Mumbai (30 Points), but I also posses a vocational Diploma in Computer Hardware & Networking from a local Institute in Mumbai. For past 4 years I’m in Qatar working as a System Administrator. Can I claim points for my diploma as well? Also, does UK High Commission link your Qualification & Profession while making any decision upon your case?
3 – I can find my qualification (Bachelors Degree / Arts – Others category) on UK NARIC database and can apply for a letter of comparability. Do I still need a letter from the University or have to verify my qualification from INTEGRA?
4 – Do they ask for original Bank Statements or just Photocopies? Does Immigration office verify your bank statements? How? (Since Banks are not allowed to disclose any information about their account holder)
5 – According to the guideline “you should provide at least two pieces of evidence for your previous earning, the evidence must be from separate sources” you either have to provide Bank Statements with Employer Letter or Bank Statements with Payslips. Which one is most preferred? Do they need original Payslips or just photocopies?
6 – I’m planning to log my application from Mumbai, However I am working in Doha for last 4 years and I get TAX free salary (entire Middle East TAX Free) & I haven’t been to India for this entire period, do I still need to show my IT returns? And if so, than How?
7 – I have done IELTS with overall score of 6.5; can I claim 10 points for this?
8 – Maintenance Fund: Do I need to get a Letter from the Bank stating the conversion & period of fund been held in my account?
I hope you don’t mind to answer my 12345678 Qs? Thanks again!

Regarding Tier 1 general visa, points for english language
But many people tell that Uk naric letter will be only for qualification points, if english pointer shows zero, then to have IELTS score of 6.5. this is confusing me Dev. actually i am also same boat of Sabu and Gerge, i think this is only M.G university studied persons suffer this funny english problems.
Please revert back if anyone got Tier 1 general on the grounds of naric letter and university letter of english taught.

Hi Raj,
Thanks for appreciating my efforts.
Here are the answers.
1 – I want to claim 20 points for Age which is possible only if you are below 28 (according to http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk web site) but there are other few sites where the Age limit shows 27, which sounds confusing. Do you know what the correct information is?
Correct age is 28 years. Don’t look anywhere else.
Both degree falls under bachelors degree so you can only claim 30 points. In case of masters only you can claim more points.
3 – I can find my qualification (Bachelors Degree / Arts – Others category) on UK NARIC database and can apply for a letter of comparability. Do I still need a letter from the University or have to verify my qualification from INTEGRA?
If you find your university in NARIC database then you don’t need anything else.
4 – Do they ask for original Bank Statements or just Photocopies? Does Immigration office verify your bank statements? How? (Since Banks are not allowed to disclose any information about their account holder)
All original docs are mandatory. Generally they don’t verify the documents but don’t take risk. Please make sure everything is correct and perfect.
In case if you are planning to make fake docs then please do not post any comments from now as i only help deserving ppl. Please do not take it personally.
As i said all originals. Either of them is preferred but i would recommend bank statement with pay slip ,so they can easily verify the amount reflected in payslip with bank statement.
6 – I’m planning to log my application from Mumbai, However I am working in Doha for last 4 years and I get TAX free salary (entire Middle East TAX Free) & I haven’t been to India for this entire period, do I still need to show my IT returns? And if so, than How?
I don’t know how doha works but though you should be having some Tax or something.Call VFS n confirm.
7 – I have done IELTS with overall score of 6.5; can I claim 10 points for this?
Yes.You can.
8 – Maintenance Fund: Do I need to get a Letter from the Bank stating the conversion & period of fund been held in my account?
Not mandatory but recommended.

As VFS told salary before tax would be considered then you don’t need to worry about anything because British high commission also knows that bank statement would have only have net take home income.
They can always match net take home salary from payslip with bank statement.

Hi Mujeeb,
Sorry for late reply.I was bit busy in my home relocation hence couldn’t reply last week.
You can submit pay slip along with statement and offer letter. That should suffice.
As long as your pay slip and bank statement amount matched then you wouldn’t have any problem.

Dev

Nice to see u Dev..
but my situation is as i mentioned in previous post that i receive cash + cheque in hand so the amount i deposit in bank isn’t same as i get the salary (doesn’t match).. my focus is on just submitting the salary slips and employment letter attested by chamber of commerce.. is this enough…?
and
should that be an employment letter confirming the amount bieng recieved, name, designation etc ? or should be an offer letter stating he is employed in xxx company since …etc ? bit confused.. hope to receive ur reply soon..thanx in advance..
sdevang said
Hi Mujeeb,
Yours is typical case.Dont submit application in hurry.
If you can get letter from employer then it would be great.
Salary slip plus offer letter should suffice in your case but still submit the bank statement though it does not reflect the exact amount getting credited in your account.
In application form you should find one page where you can mention some special stuff like this.I would request you to fill that up to visa officer is aware before making decision.
Call VFS on 080 4008 4008 to check with them as well.

Dev

Yeah i dont have any problems helping you out in this great work.
Currently i can help people filing Tier1, because i already faced it. But i cannot for, who have already got Tier1.
I am planning to come to UK in the last week of Feb or first week of March. So, myself wont have any knowledge about that matter till i get a job there.
Let me know your plan, we will work together anyways. And ofcourse, i need your valuable assistance in getting a job over there
Little intro about me, I am having more than 5 years of experience in IT industry in the field of Embedded systems. How to approach actually?
I am thinking if i can get an offer letter when i am in india itself, this solves all the risks for me. Please list out some good job portals of UK, i would like to attend interviews from here itself, if i receive any calls

Hi Dev,
I have worked in 2 countries in the last 1 year and have to provide the bank statements from 2 different bank accounts for the last 12 months.
I have received a salary from x country & Y Country.
The details are as follows:
Oct-07 to Apr-08 : X Country
May-08 to Sept-08 : Y Country
Now my question is:
What is the exchange/conversion rate I should apply, for the salaries I received in X Country?
ie. should I use the 30-Apr-08 OANDA rate for the period I was in the X Country; 30-Sept-08 OANDA rate for for the period I was in Y Country.
OR
Should I use the 30-Sept-08 OANDA rate for the entire earning.
OR
Can I use the conversion rate one day prior to application submittion date.
2nd QUERY >>> Is it really required to show earnings over CONSECUTIVE 12 months or can I show as follows:
1-Oct-2007 to 30-Apr-2008 & 1-Jun-08 to 31-Oct-2008
as I was working in X country for 1 company till 15 May 2008 and then I shifted to Y country for 2 company and started working there from 15th May 2008. So I dont have any payslip for 1st may – 15 may as I got the salary for this 15 days as final settelement and dont have any letter for final settelement. I am not showing this final settelement as my earnings.
Thanks in advance.

I get my salary by cheque wich i have to deposit every month & on my bank statement the cheque will reflecct with a cheque no. does British High Commission check the source of income or just the ammount being transfered?
I can ask my bank for 12 moth bank statement with autherised stamp and signatures,Do they still need to verify that?
Thanks

I was on a WP in UK from June 28th to Dec 7th 2008 .
I recieved a per diem allowance during this time and full salary in India . I came across some sites which says that the uplift for the Indian salary cannot be applied for the period spent in UK . What I thought till now was (IND_SAL*Exch_Rate*5.3+per_diem in UK). But am not sure now whether the Indian salary will be uplifted or not. I called VFS but they too are not confident .
Please let me know.

Hi Nehal,
You may get call from Third party company which does the verification for British High Commission.
Generally if they call then they call your employer. If you have not changed your employer from last 1 year then chances of getting verification call becomes pretty less.
British high commission is interested to know whether salary is getting credited in account or not and amount in payslip must match with amount deposited in bank.
You must need to produce 12 months duly signed payslips.
If somewhere some amount is not matching and they have doubt then they may verify it.
Regards,
Dev

I am planning to apply for Tier-1 soon. When I did the self-assessment, Point calculator is giving points for my qualification. But when I entered the same qualification in the english language requirement section, it is not giving the points.
I have the transcript from the University stating the medium of instruction of my degree was English.
My questions are:
1. Is that transcript enough to score points for English language requirement
2. do I need to evaluate my qualification and transcript with UK NARIC to get the points
3. should I go for an alternative to get the points.
Please help
Thanks in advance

Jerrin said
Dev,
I just checked NARIC website and it says they are helping the UK BA to verify the Eng language skills of candidates form the qualification.
So I think, they will be able to evaluate my qualification and give a certificate for language skills.
What do you think Dev?

Hi Jerrin,
They help to verify the degree for which you can claim the points accordingly. It does not mean that they will give you some letter which proves the english language ability.
Go for IELTS. Dont take risk.

Hi Dev,
This forum is really good and I got answers of almost my all questions. Thanks for your help.
But still I have one query for previous earnings and claiming period as follows:
I am going to show the claiming period as 1 Jan 08 – 31 dec 08. But salary for Dec’08 month I got on 12 Jan’09. Will it be considered in the claiming period as 12 jan 09 is out of claiming period but it is Dec 08 only thing it got creadited on 12 Jan 09.
If yes, then which date’s conversion rate should I use for calculating equivalent GBP? Is it of 31 Dec, 08 as it was the last day of the claiming period?
If no, then what claiming period should i consider to get 12 months earnings?
Can I use 13 jan 08 – 12 jan 09 as the claiming period but in that case what salary should I consider for jan,08 from 1 jan 08 to 31 jan 08 or do I need to calculate the salary from 13 jan 08 to 31 jan 08 and show it as Jan08 salary?
I called and asked in VFS but they are not giving me proper answer. They are telling that you read all the information from the site and take the information which is the best suitable for you. Even I got the same answer when I sent them a mail.
Thanks & Regards,
Rashmi
sdevang said
Hi Rashmi,
VFS is just an application center and they dont have much info as always.
You can show earning for 1st Jan to 31st Dec though the salary was credited on 12th of Jan 2009.
You must also submit the last 12 months payslips and amount in bank statement and payslip must match.
You need to count the conversion rate of either 12th Jan 2009 or the bank statement.
You can get the conversion rate from OANDA site and British High commision count OANDA rate only.
Please let me know if i can be more helpful to you.

Hi Dev,
A couple of queries.
1.> In the Month of Oct i quit my previous company and joined another company, hence i received salary
from both the companies for the month of october.
Q: Do you think it is better to mention this in the covering letter or prepare a seperate letter for Previous
earnings..?
2.> Since i quit my previous company, i did not get the pay slip for the month of Oct, i only received the
Final settlement & tax computation, which has a mention of the salary as well as the other components like Leave enchasment, Medical claims, special allowance and stuff like that which is claimable. I received all this in the month of october which is a sizeable amount. Both these Documents are signed and attested.
Q: Can i show the entire amount which i received in my final settlement as a part of my previous earnings..?
3.> lastly, from the 12 months statement that i get from the bank do you think it is necessary to highlight
all the parts where the salary has been credited, if yes.. then the question remains the salary actualy credited is after the tax decutions hence it will not be the total amount. please suggest.
Cheers
